Bloc Party are headlining Rocking The Daisies 2012, and i thought it was only right to do a little bit of an introduction. I’m sure a lot of you are already familiar with their music, but whether you are or aren’t, i thought i’d share some of my favourites and do a quick background on them.
Bloc Party are a British indie rock band, composed of Kele Okereke (lead vocals, rhythm guitar), Russell Lissack (lead guitar), Gordon Moakes (bass guitar, synths, backing vocals, glockenspiel), and Matt Tong (drums, backing vocals). Their brand of music is said to have been drawn from such bands as The Cure, Blur, Mogwai, The Smiths, Siouxsie and the Banshees and in their more recent work Radiohead, and apparently Nirvana.
If you’re even remotely interested, here is a list of their singles and how they performed on various charts around the world. I have no clue what their setlist for Rocking The Daisies is going to look like, but if i was to make an educated guess… i’d say that the only songs they’ll play besides the ones from their new album “Four”, will be from, this list:
And just for fun… a pretty amazing cover of Bloc Party “Flux”
