I have a love/hate relationship with my hair, always have, and probably always will. Firstly, there’s a lot of it – so it’s a pain to style, wash, dry, pretty much do anything with. It used to give me headaches when I was younger and it was super long because it was just so darn heavy. It takes ages to dry, and I think I can probably attribute what upper body strength I do have to my hair. Holding the hairdryer over my head for half an hour, and then taking the extra 15min to painstakingly brush it all out.
As a result I’m super fussy when it comes to my hair products, they need to work well, work quickly, and smell good. When John Frieda sent me some of their products to sample I was hoping that I would fall in love – and I did! I used to use the blonde hair shampoo when I was younger, so I already know that the brand produces some great quality products. The line that I got to try out was “Full Repair” and “Frizz Ease”.
Full Repair does just what it says on the tin. I found that it works on actually repairing tired/mistreated hair. I’d be lying if I said that I’m not borderline abusive to my hair, sometimes it just won’t do what I want it to do and I end up GHDing my hair straight AND curling it all in the same day. That’s a lot of heat styling! After using the Full Repair Shampoo and Conditioner for a couple of months now, I can already tell that my hair feels softer and stronger. Which is pretty much exactly what any of us want from our hair.
The Frizz Ease range has some great oils/elixirs and crèmes. These are great for keeping with you when you travel, or using before you go out for the day. In one of my posts I spoke about how I traveled to Mozambique recently and the humidity is off the charts! The Frizz Ease Nourishing Oil Elixir and the Secret Agent Touch Up Crème saved my life. The Secret Agent Touch Up Crème I kept with me in my bag, and used it on the go when I could tell my hair was looking a little wild from the humidity. The Oil Elixir I used in the mornings when I was getting ready, usually just after I had styled my hair. I’m always super nervous to use an oil product in my hair because it’s blonde, and blonde hair can look dirty super quick. The Oil Elixir didn’t leave a gross residue or anything which I was incredibly relieved to discover.
Lastly, I mentioned that the products I use need to smell good as I am incredibly sensitive to smells, and can easily get put off a product if the smell is too sharp. The products that I used – especially the Oil Elixir and the Secret Agent smelt amazing. The Full Repair shampoo and conditioner definitely weren’t overpowering in the shower, and I liked that they kind of smell like a high end perfume. Definitely won’t get tired of the smell any time soon.
So, in short, if you’re looking to try out something new on your hair, you should definitely give the John Frieda products a try. Let me know how you find them if you do!
